How to Install Silverline Range Hood Carbon Filter? (Ductless Use Guide)

If you are using your Silverline hood without a chimney (recirculating / ductless), the most important part of reducing odor is the carbon (charcoal) filter. In this guide, I will explain the general installation logic of the carbon filter in Silverline hoods step by step. (There may be minor differences from model to model.)
Important: Carbon filters are generally not washable. They are replaced when their performance drops. The grease filter (aluminum metal filter) and the carbon filter are different parts.
What does a Carbon Filter do?
In ductless use, it helps trap odor and smoke with active carbon.
The grease filter collects grease; the carbon filter reduces odor.
When the filter is clogged, complaints of "there's suction, but the odor isn't going away" increase.
Before You Start: Make Sure You Have Selected the Correct Filter
Check the hood's model label (it may be inside/on the side body).
Measure the diameter/size of the existing filter and check the connection type.
Cut the power: For safety, turn off the hood, and if possible, unplug it.
Remove the grease filter: Open the latch/clip of the metal grease filter and pull it down.
Locate the motor housing: The carbon filter usually sits in the round area under the motor.
Align the carbon filter: Align the tabs/protrusions on the filter with the grooves in the motor housing.
Lock it: In most models, you gently press the filter and twist to lock it (you'll feel a click/seat).
Reinstall the grease filter: Place the metal filter back into position and close the latch.
Test it: Turn on the hood; if there's vibration, noise, or rubbing, the filter might not be seated correctly.
Tip: If the filter "doesn't turn/seat," the most common reason is an incompatible diameter or reverse alignment. Don't force it; the tabs could break.
Common Mistakes
Installing the carbon filter in place of the grease filter: The correct place is the motor section; the grease filter remains separate.
Not installing a carbon filter for ductless use: Odor will significantly increase.
Washing the carbon filter: Most carbon filters lose performance when washed (check for your specific model).
Extending the replacement period too much: Odor trapping decreases, leaving a strong odor in the kitchen.
